Segway Tennis with CBBC's Dick and Dom!

Segway Events were recently asked to help CBBC’s Dick and Dom film a segment for their new TV show.

The show will see the duo recreate modern versions of retro video games. With ‘Pong’ being the focus of this particular shoot, armed with a set of tennis rackets and a couple of Segways, Segway Tennis was born!

Our instructor Tom arrived on set in Birmingham to prepare for Dick and Dom’s arrival at 4pm. A training session then took place, with Tom explaining exactly how the Segways work and how to manoeuvre them. After a full briefing, around an hour of practise took place before filming began.

Dick and Dom shot to fame presenting CBBC’s ‘Broom Cupboard Live’, providing continuity links between programmes. They are probably best known for the double BAFTA award-winning ‘Dick and Dom in da Bungalow’.

The shoot was thoroughly enjoyed by our instructor, who said of the day, “It was a great shoot and the guys couldn’t have been any nicer. I’m glad to be able to say that I was there on the day a new sport was invented!”

The show will air in October 2014.
